Essential Recipe: Gingerbread Cookies

These delicious Gingerbread Cookies will be a huge hit during your next holiday event.  These cookies are gluten-free, sugar-free, and vegan, so you can happily offer them to your friends and family who have diet restrictions. Plus, they taste great and can be enjoyed by all.

 

Ingredients:

1 1/3 cup buckwheat flour
2/3 cup tapioca flour
2/3 cup sorghum flour
1 tablespoon chia seed meal
1 tablespoon flax seed meal
1/3 cup of coconut palm sugar
1/2 teaspoon baking powder
1/2 teaspoon baking soda
1/4 teaspoon salt
½ teaspoon nutmeg
2 drops Cinnamon essential oil
2 drops Ginger essential oil
2 drops Clove essential oil
½ cup coconut oil
¼ cup unsweetened applesauce
3 tablespoons water
3 tablespoons molasses
1 teaspoon apple cider vinegar
45 drops Liquid Stevia

Makes around 2 dozen cookies.

Directions:

  1. Preheat oven to 350 degrees Fahrenheit.
  2. Combine dry ingredients into bowl and whisk.

  5. Add dry ingredients to wet ingredients on slow speed until combined.

  6. Put a small handful of buckwheat flour onto clean surface and put dough on top.

  7. Roll until 1/4 – 1/2 inch thick.
  8. Take cookie cutter and cut out shapes.

  9. Place cutouts onto cookie sheet.

  10. Continue to roll out and cut shapes from left over dough until all the dough has been used.
  11. Bake for 12-15 minutes or until done. Remove from oven and let cool.

Essential Recipe: Cranberry Chutney

The holidays are right around the corner which means lots of great food. Give your guests a delicious dish that will be refreshing to their palates. Great on its own, as a condiment, or as a dip, this cranberry chutney will be asked for from all.

 

What You Need:

1 whole seedless orange (including the peel and rind)

2 cored, peeled green apples

2 cups whole cranberries

1/3 – 1/2 cup honey

3 drops Wild Orange Essential Oil

Note: To add some spice, add a jalapeno pepper.

Directions:

  1. Combine orange, apples, and cranberries into a food processor. Pulse until ingredients are finely chopped.

  1. Pour ingredients into large bowl. Add honey. Start with 1/3 cup and add more until you have your desired sweetness.

  1. Add 3 drops Wild Orange essential oil. Stir to combine.

  2. Pour chutney into airtight container and let it rest in the fridge for 1-4 hours.

Note: This cranberry chutney can be made as much as 4 days in advance.

  1. Once rested, use as desired. Enjoy on its own, on top of turkey, or even on your leftover turkey sandwiches.

Limeade is a staple in the summertime! Try this sweet twist on the standard limeade with homemade raspberry puree and Lime essential oil. This sweet and tangy drink is the perfect treat on any warm summer day.


Ingredients:

Raspberry Puree:
2 cups raspberries
1/2 cup sugar or honey
1 cup water

Note: This recipe makes about 2 cups of puree and you only need to put 1-2 tablespoons into each cup. Therefore the 1/2 cup of sugar will be divided into about 20 cups of limeade. If you prefer, you could also substitute the sugar with honey or add more raspberries.

Essential Recipe: Basil Marinated Roasted Pepper & Manchego Sandwiches

The flavors of Spain and Italy shine in this easy and elegant sandwich. Our cheese of choice is one made from sheep raised on La Mancha in Spain. Manchego has a wonderful nuttiness and texture which plays splendidly with the piquant flavor profile of the Basil essential oil.

​This recipe is elegantly easy and highlights a wonderful Basil flavor without requiring any fresh Basil.

Basil Marinated Roasted Pepper & Manchego Sandwiches
serves 4 to 6

Marinade
3-5 drops Basil essential oil
2 tablespoons truffle oil or extra virgin olive oil
1 tablespoon balsamic vinegar
2 garlic cloves, minced
1 teaspoon kosher salt
3/4 teaspoon freshly ground pepper

Sandwich
4 whole roasted peppers (either homemade or jarred)
1 large loaf ciabatta bread, halved horizontally
1 12-ounce wedge Manchego cheese at room temperature
2 cups baby arugula

 

Add truffle oil, balsamic vinegar, garlic, salt, pepper, and Basil essential oil to a small, flat-bottomed container. Whisk to combine. Add peppers to the mixture and swill around in marinade until peppers are thoroughly coated. Cover with plastic wrap and refrigerate for a few hours to allow the flavors some time to develop.

​This recipe is elegantly easy and highlights a wonderful Basil flavor without requiring any fresh Basil.

To assemble the sandwiches, first add a layer of arugula, then a layer of Manchego, then the roasted peppers. Top with more arugula and drizzle with the marinade. Top with the top half of the ciabatta and cut into individual servings.

This sandwich would also be amazing as a panini or with the bread toasted.

  1. Place all ingredients into mixer except for half cup shredded coconut.

Essential Recipe: Italian Chicken Soup with doTERRA Essential Oils

Italian Chicken Soup is an easy and delicious meal that should be a staple in every home. The fresh vegetables and hearty sauce will make you feel full and satisfied without being weighed down.

Ingredients

3 tablespoons flaked oregano
1 tablespoon olive oil
1 chicken breast
Chicken bouillon
Water
4 stalks celery
1 green pepper
1 package Ditalini pasta
4 Roma tomatoes
1 pint whipping cream
2 drops Oregano essential oil
½ teaspoon salt
½ teaspoon pepper

Directions

  1. Place 1 tablespoon of olive oil and 4 tablespoons of flaked oregano in small skillet and sauté over medium heat for approximately 1 minute. Set aside.
  2. Place chicken, 1 tablespoon of chicken bouillon, and 1 cup of water in pressure cooker. Cook for 20 minutes on high. Once chicken has finished cooking, shred or dice chicken.
  3. Dice 4 stalks of celery and 1 green pepper. Place celery and green pepper in small skillet and sauté over medium heat for approximately 1 minute.
  4. Place chicken and celery and green pepper mixture back into pressure cooker. Add pasta.
  5. Mix 1 tablespoon of powdered chicken bouillon with 5 cups of water and pour over noodles until covered.
  6. Add ½ teaspoon of real salt and ½ teaspoon coarse black pepper. Cook in pressure cooker on low pressure for 2 minutes.
  7. When complete, add 1 pint of whipping cream, 4 Roma tomatoes diced, the sautéed oregano, and Oregano essential oil. Mix thoroughly and let heat for 1 minute before serving.

With the warmer weather quickly approaching, a healthy grilled meal could be exactly what you need to get in the spring mood. These delicious and easy black bean burgers with essential oils are sure to be loved by everyone in your family.

Ingredients:

2 garlic cloves

2 cans or 3 cups cooked black beans (drained and divided)

1/4 cup red bell pepper

1/2 cup yellow onion

2 drops dōTERRA Cilantro essential oil

2 drops dōTERRA Basil essential oil

1 egg

1 cup bread crumbs

Salt and pepper

Directions:

  1. Rinse and drain the beans.
  2. Put 1/2 of rinsed beans (1.5 cups), yellow onion, garlic, red bell pepper, Cilantro and Basil essential oil, egg, bread crumbs, and salt and pepper into a food processor or blender. Process until smooth.

  3. Combine with the remaining black beans and stir. If the mixture is too sticky, add more bread crumbs until it holds together.

  5. Heat skillet/grill on medium heat. Add olive oil.

  6. Heat 6 minutes on each side. Be careful when you flip the burgers as they are very delicate.

  7. While the burgers are cooking, cut up tomatoes, romaine lettuce, or other desired toppings.
